Over the last few years, actress and musician Skyler Day has become one of the most exciting talents in the entertainment industry today. She is quickly making a name for herself with the diverse characters she has brought to life on screen, and on the music front has become known for her acoustic folk sound filled with heart, soul, and charming storytelling.
In 2016 Skyler can be seen on the new MTV series “Sweet/Vicious.” The show, an offbeat superhero story for the millennial generation, follows Jules and Ophelia, two college students who secretly act as vigilantes on campus. Skyler is a scene-stealer as Mackenzie, a modern day Tracy Flick who is a stickler for the rules, legacy in her sorority, and the safety czar on campus. Filled with clumsy attempts and missteps, the cast must balance their new secret life with best friends, love interests, and the metaphorical monsters under their beds.
In addition to “Sweet/Vicious” Skyler can also currently be seen on the comedy web series“Con Man.” Created, written, and directed by Alan Tudyk, the show follows cult science fiction actor Wray Nerely (Tudyk) as he tours the convention circuit. Skyler is hilarious as Tiffany Gizela, a former child star who is desperate to get her career back and on the convention trail. The show recently wrapped season two.
Born and raised in Cumming, Georgia Skyler got her start in the entertainment industry after meeting a talent agent while at the DMV with her mom at age six. At 10 years old after working in local print, commercials, and voiceovers, she made a deal with her parents that if she were cast as the lead in a film by her 11th birthday they would move to California so she could pursue her dream of becoming an actress. Skyler reached her goal. She is best known, however, for her recurring role as the sweet, girl next door Amy Ellis, Drew’s (Miles Heizer) girlfriend on NBC’s critically acclaimed series, “Parenthood” – she appeared on the show from 2011-14. Additionally, she has developed a strong resume in television and film, guest starring on shows such as: “CSI,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “iZombie,” “Code Black,” “Constantine,” “iCarly,” “Workaholics,” and recurring on “Army Wives,” “Law & Order: SUV,” “Pretty Little Liars,” and “Gigantic.”
While acting is one of Skyler’s greatest passions, music is another driving force in her life. At ten years old she wrote her first song, but when she took up guitar a few years later Skyler really discovered her passion for singing and songwriting. Growing up in the South, Skyler always found inspiration in Country music but her greatest influences include singer/songwriters like Jewel, Carole King, Sheryl Crow and Ingrid Michaelson. Often compared to Alison Krauss, Skyler’s serene vocals blend perfectly with her honest lyrics. On October 26th 2014 she released her first EP “Between the I and the You”. She is currently in the studio working on her next EP, with Steven Solomon (Colbie Caillat, Sabrina Carpenter) producing.
